About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you lead a team responsible for executing integrated policy, political engagement and campaign programs.
This leadership role combines deep policy expertise with relationship building skills across the political and regulatory landscape.
You interpret complex policy environments, shape advocacy strategies, and build trust with government officials, elected representatives and policy stakeholders.
This role ensures credibility and constructive contribution to policy development and decision-making.
As a strategic advisor, you will provide insightful advice connecting business strategy with public policy and community expectations.
Key accountabilities include:
* Leading the development and execution of public policy and government relations strategy ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
* Monitoring and analysing political, policy and regulatory developments to anticipate risk and opportunity, and translate insights into strategic advocacy and campaign planning.
* Building and maintaining trusted relationships with political stakeholders, government officials, and policy influencers at state and national levels.
* Representing the organisation in high-level political and policy forums, advocating for outcomes that support long-term business success and social value creation.
* Providing strategic advice and counsel to leadership on political, policy and regulatory matters, supporting informed decision-making and risk management.
* Leading and coaching the Public Policy and Government Relations team fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development.
* Overseeing campaign and content development, ensuring messaging is compelling, evidence-based and aligned with the organisation's values and reputation.
About You
You are a politically astute and policy-minded leader with a proven track record in government relations, advocacy and strategic engagement.
You bring deep expertise in navigating complex political and regulatory environments, and understand how to influence outcomes through relationships, evidence and timing.
Your experience might have included roles as a chief of staff or senior adviser to a government minister at the state or national level, as a director or senior leader in public policy or corporate affairs, or experience as a member of the senior executive service of the public service.
You may hold tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, political science, law or commerce, and apply this foundation to deliver sophisticated, integrated advocacy and campaign strategies.
You are known for your ability to anticipate shifts in the external environment and respond with clarity and conviction.
Your leadership is defined by your ability to elevate teams and drive outcomes.
