ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most‐loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

The program:

Haven House is a time‐limited, case‐management supported tenancy program that provides young people with safe, self‐contained housing and a wraparound support model for those engaged, or actively seeking to be engaged, in education, training and employment (ETE), where housing instability is a primary barrier.

The Role

As a Senior Youth Worker, you'll play a hands‐on, supportive role in the daily lives of young women and gender‐diverse young people aged 17–22 living in our program. You'll build strong, trusting relationships while offering guidance, supervision, and practical support.

Working closely with Case Managers, you'll help deliver group activities, support community engagement, build life and living skills, assist with ETE pathways, and contribute to tenancy sustainment—all within a trauma‐informed, PIE‐aligned supported housing environment.

As the program continues to grow, you'll also have the chance to contribute to broader Youth Services initiatives across the Brisbane Region, including youth participation forums, community events, and regional projects that strengthen connections between Haven House and other youth services.

Your Responsibilities

* Build safe, trusting relationships with young people using trauma‐informed and culturally safe approaches.
* Support daily routines in shared spaces and help foster connection, belonging, and community.
* Assist young people with tenancy expectations, independent living skills, and navigating shared living.
* Provide early support around ETE engagement challenges, working closely with the Senior Case Worker.
* Work collaboratively with the Senior Case Worker, Region Manager and external partners to ensure coordinated wraparound support.
* Contribute to case reviews and reflective practice.
* Co‐facilitate group activities, communal dinners and practical life‐skills sessions (budgeting, cooking, tenancy rights, conflict resolution).

What You'll Bring

* A minimum Cert IV qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Case Management or a related field essential.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience working with young people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.
* Respectful, inclusive practice when supporting LGBTQIA+ young people.
* Working with children's check – blue card required.
* A current driver's licence.

What we offer

* Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
* Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.
* Flexible working arrangements.
* Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness Passport.
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander supports such as: Burra Burra Network (pastoral care network), Cultural Events, Sorry Business and Ceremonial Leave (up to 10 days).
* Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on‐the‐job skills and proficiency.
* Rewarding and fulfilling purpose‐driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts.
