Looking for a role with genuine variety, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to work across both commercial and litigation matters within a modern, fast-growing firm?
Allied Legal is seeking a commercially minded lawyer with 3–5 years’ PAE to join our growing Melbourne team. This is an opportunity to work closely with founders, high-growth businesses, SMEs, and corporate clients across a broad range of industries, while gaining meaningful responsibility and strong progression opportunities in a flexible hybrid environment.
About Us
Allied Legal is a modern commercial law firm specialising in startups, scaleups, and high-growth businesses across Australia. We also act for SMEs and established corporate clients across a wide range of sectors including technology, MedTech, fintech, e‑commerce, renewables, education, and agriculture.
Our team works on a diverse mix of commercial, corporate, and disputes matters, often acting as ongoing strategic advisors to innovative businesses throughout their growth journey.
As an up‑and‑coming specialist firm with a 5‑star client satisfaction reputation, we pride ourselves on building genuine long‑term relationships with our clients and becoming trusted advisors throughout their growth journey. Our work is dynamic, commercially engaging, and often at the forefront of innovation and emerging industries.
As the firm continues to expand, we are looking for a lawyer who is commercially astute, confident managing client relationships, and excited by the opportunity to grow alongside an ambitious and collaborative team.
The Role
This role offers a genuine 50/50 split across commercial and litigation matters, making it ideal for a lawyer seeking broader exposure than a traditional specialist pathway.
You will work directly with the Director, Head of Litigation and clients across a range of matters, including:
* Work across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters, including commercial contracts, litigation, restructuring, capital raising, IP protection and commercialisation, regulatory advice, and M&A transactions.
* Have a strong focus on litigation matters and support our Head of Litigation on disputes and contentious matters across a range of industries.
* Collaborate closely with a passionate and experienced team to build and grow strong client relationships.
* Gain exposure to high‑growth sectors such as fintech, MedTech, e‑commerce, education, agriculture, and renewables.
* Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactions and strategic agreements that shape the future of emerging businesses.
* Play a key role in shaping our culture and contribute to business development and marketing initiatives that support our continued growth.
Why Join Us
Joining Allied Legal means becoming part of a collaborative and ambitious team where lawyers are given meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to accelerate their professional growth in a supportive environment.
You'll get:
* Direct client exposure and meaningful responsibility from day one
* Genuine progression opportunities as the firm continues to expand
* Exposure to Australia’s growing startup and innovation ecosystem
* Broad and intellectually engaging matters across commercial, corporate, and litigation work
* A modern, entrepreneurial environment without excessive bureaucracy
* A flexible hybrid working model (2 days in‑office / 3 days WFH)
* A strong focus on work‑life balance, with realistic expectations and a supportive team culture
* A friendly, inclusive, and transparent workplace where your contributions are genuinely valued
* A collaborative and merit‑based culture that rewards initiative, performance, and commercial thinking
* Regular team events, social outings, and opportunities to contribute to the continued growth of the firm
What We’re Looking For
We’re after someone who’s not just technically strong, but also passionate about client relationships, contributing positively to our culture, and working across a diverse range of industry sectors and matters. To be considered, you must have:
* 3–5 years’ PAE within a commercial, corporate, or litigation practice in Australia
* Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
* Experience managing commercial and/or disputes matters with a high level of attention to detail
* Confidence working directly with clients and building trusted relationships
* A proactive and commercially minded approach
* Interest in startups, innovation, and high‑growth businesses
* A collaborative attitude and strong cultural fit
* Not afraid to initiate business development and marketing opportunities to foster growth within the startup ecosystem and establish yourself as a thought leader.
