JOHNEX explosives, a 100% Australian‐owned manufacturer and distributor of innovative explosives, is seeking an experienced and reliable Operator to join our explosives manufacturing team at the McLarty State Explosives Reserve (MSER), Yarloop WA.
This is an advanced operational role suited to someone who thrives in a hands‐on environment, works well with minimal supervision, and is committed to maintaining exceptional standards of safety, quality, and production. You will have experience operating packing machinery and play a key role in the preparation, manufacturing, packaging, and storage of explosives products, while also supporting and guiding Level 1 and Level 2 Operators.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
Attend prestart meetings and follow instructions from the Site Supervisor.
Conduct pre‐start inspections and report issues promptly.
Perform a range of manual tasks including:
* Packaging, boxing, sealing, and cleaning product
* Stacking packaged goods for dispatch
* Clipping product to specification
* Wrapping of pallets
Manufacturing & Handling
* Mix raw materials for explosives formulations.
* Perform AMFTEK Presplit packaging operator tasks.
* Manage explosives magazines, including transport pre‐ and post‐manufacturing.
* Operate forklifts, vehicles, and trucks safely and in line with company procedures.
* Transfer and handle raw materials safely and efficiently
Safety, Quality & Leadership
* Ensure all work is completed according to company procedures and quality standards.
* Stop work immediately if a task is unsafe or unclear.
* Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and non‐conformances.
* Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and investigations.
* Conduct hazard analysis and implement appropriate controls.
* Step up into the Plant Supervisor role when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* 18+, Australian work rights, Driver's Licence, own reliable vehicle.
* Ability to obtain a Dangerous Goods Security Card.
* Pass medical/drug tests and recent police clearance.
* Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain).
* Physically capable of manual handling up to 25 kg.
* Computer literacy for labels, manifests, and email communications.
* Understanding of explosives‐related hazards and ability to follow strict procedures.
* RIIBLA205E – Store, handle and transport explosives (or willingness to obtain).
* First aid qualification (advantageous but not essential).
* Experience operating packing machinery or similar equipment.
* Mechanically minded, with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
