About Cancer Council Australia

Cancer Council Australia is the nation's leading non-government cancer control organisation, focused on reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and support. We work alongside the community, health professionals, and government to provide trusted information and services to those affected by cancer. With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.

About the role

The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government's Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council's existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.

We are now seeking an experienced Training and Development Specialist to play a critical role in building workforce capability and supporting the successful rollout of the National Cancer Navigation Service. Working as part of the program's quality function within the Navigation Program, you will design, deliver and evaluate learning solutions that support adoption of new systems, processes and service models across a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment. You will work closely with program leads, operational teams, subject matter experts and state-based stakeholders to ensure training is practical, role-based and aligned to service priorities.

Key responsibilities include:
* Assessing learning and capability needs across national and jurisdictional contexts
* Developing and maintaining high-quality learning materials, including facilitator guides, eLearning and support resources
* Designing training aligned to program milestones, releases and workforce readiness needs
* Delivering training through a range of methods including virtual sessions, workshops and blended learning approaches
* Supporting workforce readiness, onboarding and just-in-time learning during implementation phases
* Monitoring participation, feedback and capability uplift to inform continuous improvement
* Embedding culturally safe, inclusive and trauma-informed learning approaches
* Collaborating with stakeholders across the Federation to ensure alignment and consistency
About you

You are an experienced learning and development professional who thrives in complex program environments and is passionate about creating engaging, practical learning experiences that support real-world application. You are confident working with diverse stakeholders and translating complex system or service changes into clear and effective training solutions. You are adaptable, collaborative and motivated by contributing to meaningful, purpose-driven work.

You bring:
* Demonstrated experience in instructional design and adult learning principles
* Experience delivering training within complex programs, service environments or transformation initiatives
* Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse audiences
* Ability to translate business, system or service change into practical learning solutions
* Experience with digital learning tools and virtual facilitation platforms
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
* Experience evaluating training effectiveness and using insights to improve outcomes
* A commitment to cultural safety, inclusion and trauma-informed practice
* Alignment with Cancer Council Australia's mission and values
* Experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector (desirable)
