Overview
Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organisation's financial management system and partnering with the business to ensure effective decision‑making, operational governance and funding body reporting is the key focus of this position.
Information
Based in Townsville our client, NQ Dry Tropics, enables and supports the dry tropics community to achieve sustainable management of land and water.
Role
In this role you will report to the Corporate Services Manager and work closely with the Project Management & Senior Leadership Teams, Board of Directors, Finance & Risk Committee and other internal and external stakeholders. You will lead the management accounting function, including budgeting, financial acquittals and reporting, funding income monitoring, and forecasting.
Accountability
You will be accountable for: financial and management accounting; budgeting and forecasting; reporting, audit and compliance; asset management; team leadership and support; financial analysis and funds management; and related monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement.
Key Skills & Experience
As the organisation is undergoing a period of transformational growth, your ability to partner with key stakeholders and support evidence‑based decision making will be vital in delivering and sustaining that change.
It is therefore anticipated you will: be an experienced Accountant; have a strong knowledge of accounting regulations and standards, and contemporary related issues; be able to demonstrate your financial analysis and reporting skills, risk management knowledge, strong communication skills and adaptability; and hold degree qualifications in Commerce/Accounting. CA/CPA certification (or progression towards), people management experience, and experience within a not-for-profit context will be a distinct advantage.
Requirements
Applicants must currently reside and be permitted to work permanently in Australia and hold a 'C' class driver's license.
