Senior Business Advisor / Management Accountant
$87 per hour inclusive of super (7 hour day)
Our client is a high profile NSW government department that promotes sustainable energy use and oversees environment, heritage and water protection.
Role Description
The Senior Business Advisor (Management Accountant) will provide high level business and financial advisory services for assigned divisions; including internal budgeting and forecasting, labour analytics, capital reporting and planning, divisional management reporting, business case development and coordination of risk and savings plans. The role also provides high level accounting support services, including the review of all general ledger accounts for nominated Divisions within the Department and related entities to ensure consistent reconciliation and alignment with management reporting information and requirements.
Responsibilities
Provide timely, expert financial and accounting information and advice to the Manager Business Advisory and develop budgets and monthly forecasts for assigned functional areas to meet the financial and business performance requirements of the Department.
Include month end reporting and other ad hoc information and reporting requests.
Preparation of the annual budgets, budget loads to MyOutcomes and budget reconciliations.
Provide analysis on financial performance, accounting, savings targets and business monitoring to support management in understanding and decision-making about current and future business performance.
Prepare submissions to the PRIME system related to Carry Forwards, Parameter Technical Adjustments (PTAs) and New Policy Proposals.
Prepare monthly management reports, journals and assist in ad hoc departmental requests.
Support the Audit process and address audit queries, annual returns and analytical support services in response to client requests.
Provide support in systems improvement and implementation.
Skills and Experience
CA or CPA qualifications are an advantage
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or related, or equivalent experience
5 years experience in management accounting / financial analysis with a detailed understanding of accounting procedures
A blend of detailed financial knowledge and proficiency in data analysis
Experience with budgeting and forecasting, financial planning and analysis
Experience using Finance Systems (SAP in particular) in a complex organisation an advantage
Experience in NSW government or large corporate environments
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with reporting tools an advantage
Outstanding stakeholder management skills and the ability to partner and influence business decision makers
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills – able to provide commentary and analysis to non-financial stakeholders
