Indigenous Business Development Manager Role
This role plays a critical leadership function in advancing strategic goals through culturally aligned business development, Indigenous stakeholder engagement, and long-term commercial partnerships.
You will lead the identification and conversion of high-value opportunities, foster strong relationships with clients and Indigenous stakeholders, and champion Indigenous participation and procurement outcomes across our business operations.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and Indigenous stakeholders to identify and secure strategic business opportunities.
* Develop compelling proposals, tenders, and Indigenous engagement plans that align with growth priorities and Indigenous participation goals.
* Drive the creation of joint ventures and supply chain partnerships with Indigenous businesses to increase Indigenous participation and procurement outcomes.
* Represent the company at business forums and industry events to enhance visibility and influence.
* Collaborate across internal teams to align Indigenous engagement with recruitment, project delivery, and cultural capability building.
* Lead the implementation and monitoring of Indigenous procurement and participation targets.
* Deliver strategic insights and data-driven reporting to inform executive decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; bringing valuable cultural knowledge and lived experience.
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
* Proven experience in Indigenous business development and stakeholder engagement, ideally in mining, civil, construction, or related sectors.
* Strong knowledge of Indigenous procurement frameworks (e.g. IPP, MAP, Supply Nation) and government Indigenous participation policies.
* Demonstrated leadership and ability to work collaboratively with Traditional Owners, stakeholders, and corporate entities.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* High-level writing skills to prepare business proposals, strategic plans, and stakeholder reports.
* Strong project management skills and ability to lead initiatives from planning through execution.
* Passion for driving positive change through Indigenous procurement and community-led business development.
* High level of cultural sensitivity, integrity, and commitment to Indigenous economic empowerment.
