Your Opportunity
As State Manager – Operations you will take the lead in shaping the future of community housing in Tasmania. You will oversee all operational activity across Housing Services, Asset Services and Community Development teams, delivering an Integrated Service Delivery approach that lifts performance, strengthens tenant experience and delivers real impact for communities. You will also play a central role in growing Mission Australia Housing's footprint by building strong partnerships and delivering new business aligned with our strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all Housing Services, Asset Services and Community Development operations across the state through an Integrated Service Delivery model.
* Manage and develop a high‑performing team, ensuring clear expectations, strong performance management and values‑based leadership.
* Drive operational performance by meeting key KPIs, contractual requirements and regulatory standards.
* Use data and insights to inform planning, reporting and continuous service improvement.
* Manage operational budgets, resources and workforce planning to support effective and sustainable service delivery.
* Build strong relationships with government, regulators, partners and internal stakeholders to support tenant and community outcomes.
* Contribute to strategy, new business initiatives and service model improvements aligned with Mission Australia Housing's long‑term goals.
Requirements for Success
* Minimum 3 years senior operational leadership experience, ideally within the social and affordable housing sector.
* Strong understanding of Tasmania's social housing systems, including tenancy, asset management and community development.
* Proven experience in contract, compliance and risk management.
* Demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets and use data to inform decisions and drive performance.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
* Inclusive, values‑based leadership style with a proven track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Tasmanian government, partners and internal stakeholders.
* Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children / vulnerable people.
