Job Role Summary:
The lead commercial lawyer provides expert legal guidance on procurement, contracting, grants and property matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serves as a subject matter expert in commercial law, supervising and providing second counselling to senior legal officers and legal officers within the team.
* Leverages experience to develop staff, set goals, drive performance, and delegate work while measuring effectiveness.
* Fosters strong relationships with stakeholders through effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
* Manages workflow, reports, and contributes to team and departmental meetings.
Essential Qualifications:
* A degree in law from an Australian university or equivalent overseas qualification recognized in Australia for admission to practice.
* Possession of a Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
* A minimum of three years of post-qualification legal experience in commercial advisory work, preferably including experience in government procurement and contracting, grants, and property.
