About the role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation's most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides comprehensive consultative and investigative services for patients with respiratory disorders. This role is Monday to Friday shifts. The Clinical Nurse Educator provides support and clinical development/training to staff while fostering a preceptor/mentor role. The role formulates, coordinates, and evaluates unit based educational programs; assessment and demonstration of clinical procedures. The aim of the position is to use a participation methodology to build the capacity of individuals to deliver safe, evidenced based care and to foster a patient and family focused culture that supports the NUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manage change.
Responsibilities
* Provide support and clinical development/training to staff; foster a preceptor/mentor role.
* Formulate, coordinate, and evaluate unit-based educational programs; assess and demonstrate clinical procedures.
* Apply participation methodology to build capacity for safe, evidence-based care and reflective practice for continual improvement.
* Contribute to improvement of health service delivery and support innovative models of care.
Ideal Candidate
* Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post-registration experience in the specialty.
* Holds relevant clinical or education post-registration qualifications, or equivalent education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
* Demonstrated understanding and experience in various teaching methodologies, including the ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate unit-based education.
* This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role with a great work-life balance.
