About us

Meals on Wheels Tasmania began serving the community in 1955 and now operates 15 branch locations across the State, from Wynyard in the northwest to the Huon Valley in the south. Each year, our team of more than 50 dedicated staff and over 700 volunteers deliver approximately 300,000 meals to older Tasmanians and people with living with disabilities, helping them maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own homes.

About the role

Meals on Wheels Tasmania is seeking a highly motivated and experienced People and Culture Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee and volunteer relations, performance management, training and development, and compensation and benefits. The People and Culture Manager will work closely with senior management and Board to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that comply with local laws and regulations

* Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and onboarding

* Oversee employee and volunteer relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations

* Develop and implement performance management programs, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and career development plans

* Manage employee and volunteer training and development programs, including identifying training needs, developing training materials, and delivering training sessions

* Administer compensation and benefits programs, including salary reviews, bonus programs, and employee benefits

* Ensure compliance with all HR-related laws and regulations

* Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports as needed

* Provide guidance and support to managers, employees and volunteers on HR-related issues

About you

The successful candidate in the role will have:

* Relevant qualifications in Human Resource Management

* 5+ years of experience in HR management or related position

* Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations

* Past experience with the implementation of HR software systems

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Strong organisational and time management skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, Employment Hero an advantage

Selection Criteria

Essential

* Demonstrated experience in human resource management at a senior level in a similar community based organisation.
* Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of human resource management activities across all elements of the employee lifecycle.
* Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of human resource and organisational change management strategies and plans.
* Proven ability to work in a stand-alone role taking ownership of key projects and driving initiatives.
* High level written and spoken communication skills, including demonstrated ability to manage conflict, coach others and be a knowledgeable resource.
* Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight timeframes.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships and demonstrate collaborative approaches with a broad range of stakeholders.
* Demonstration of a growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
