About You
Trade qualification or equivalent experience in Security, Cabling, or Telecommunications (essential).
Relevant licenses and endorsements (e.g. Security Installer Licence, Open Cabling Registration) – essential.
White Card and other site-based certifications (required).
Leadership or supervisory training (desirable).
Position Summary
The Security & Cabling Team Lead is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating security systems and structured cabling works across client sites and projects. This role combines hands‐on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to high‐quality standards.
The position plays a key role in maintaining reliable service delivery, technical excellence, and team capability, while acting as the first escalation point for site‐based issues and supporting project and operational outcomes.
Key Requirements
Essential
* Extensive experience in security systems and structured cabling.
* Demonstrated experience leading or supervising field‐based teams.
* Strong understanding of WHS and site safety requirements.
* Ability to manage site activities and resolve issues effectively.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
* Experience delivering multi‐site or complex projects.
* Experience mentoring apprentices or junior staff.
* Exposure to integrated security or networked systems.
Job Responsibility
Team Leadership & Supervision
Lead, supervise, and support security and cabling technicians and apprentices.
Allocate daily work, monitor progress, and ensure jobs are completed to standard.
Provide on‐the‐job coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Support skill development and safe work practices across the team.
Security & Cabling Service Delivery
Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of security systems and structured cabling.
Ensure compliance with technical standards, codes, and client requirements.
Act as an escalation point for complex technical or site issues.
Support testing, commissioning, and system handover activities.
Project Coordination
Coordinate site activities in line with project plans, schedules, and scopes.
Liaise with project managers, clients, and subcontractors on‐site.
Ensure materials, tools, and resources are available and used effectively.
Identify risks, delays, or scope issues and elevate appropriately.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all work complies with WHS, safety procedures, and site requirements.
Conduct site safety checks, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
Ensure installations meet Australian Standards, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate site documentation, as‐built records, and job reporting.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Represent Advanced Communications professionally on client sites.
Communicate clearly with clients regarding progress, issues, and outcomes.
Resolve site‐level issues promptly and professionally.
Support positive client relationships through reliable delivery.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve installation methods, safety, and quality outcomes.
Contribute to development of SOPs, standards, and training materials.
Support efficiency improvements and reduction of rework or defects.
