* Permanent ongoing opportunity
* Full-time role at 35 hours per week
* Location: Maitland, Orange and Wollongong preferred, however, all NSW DPIRD locations will be considered – region allocation encouraged / hybrid working supported
* Salary ranges from $129,464.00 to $142,665.00 + super & leave loading

About the Role

As a Senior Compliance Auditor with NSW Resources Regulator, you will play a key role in delivering a structured, risk-based compliance audit program that supports safe, sustainable and responsible mining across NSW. You will lead audits of mining leases and exploration licences against the Mining Act 1992, applying strong analytical thinking to assess compliance, identify risks and drive corrective action. Through the preparation of clear, evidence-based technical reports, you will provide trusted advice that informs regulatory decisions and strengthens industry practices.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, government partners, industry and community stakeholders to promote compliance and continuous improvement. You will also contribute to a positive team culture by mentoring others and sharing your expertise, while balancing the need for impartial, consistent regulatory outcomes with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

About You

We are seeking a skilled and motivated auditor who brings strong technical expertise and a commitment to integrity, collaboration and high‐quality outcomes.

As our ideal candidate, you will bring:

* Demonstrated experience in compliance auditing, ideally within mining, petroleum, environmental or natural resource regulation
* Strong knowledge of audit methodologies, including risk-based approaches and the application of relevant auditing and risk management standards
* Ability to analyse complex information, identify trends and provide clear, evidence‐based insights and recommendations
* Highly developed written communication skills, with experience preparing clear, concise and well‐structured technical reports
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex concepts with clarity and confidence
* A collaborative approach, with a willingness to share knowledge, support team outcomes and contribute to a positive team culture

Essential Requirements

* Degree qualifications relevant to the Mining Act 1992, in environmental or natural resources management (or qualifications/experience deemed by the Department to be equivalent).
* Eligibility for or willingness to obtain certification as an auditor with a relevant accreditation body.
* Hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence and the ability to travel within NSW at short notice.
* Compliance with the Resources Regulator Pecuniary Interests in the Regulated Sector policy is mandatory.
* Appointment and ongoing assignment is subject to the satisfactory participation in ongoing health screening.
* Compliance with pre‐employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement.
