The Role
This hands-on Farm Manager position at the Naracoorte property requires a balance of practical work and administrative duties, reporting directly to the family owners. Responsibilities include comprehensive farm planning, implementing and delegating monthly, weekly, and daily tasks, and overseeing two full-time employees with the ability to engage casual labour during peak periods.
The role encompasses all aspects of cropping, from seeding to harvesting (contract baling), including spraying and spreading, using modern CASEIH equipment. While a chemical certification is preferred, training will be provided and funded for the successful applicant.
Extensive stock experience is necessary for planning and executing all required animal husbandry tasks, such as organising crutching, shearing, lamb and calf marking, pregnancy testing and scanning. The successful candidate will be provided with a Side by Side for on farm use to assist with all aspects of livestock husbandry and movements.
Accurate record-keeping is essential for the seamless flow of this business. Agriwebb is utilised for all record keeping for both livestock and cropping enterprises (sowing, spraying, harvesting, livestock movements, animal health treatments, birthing ease and property transfers). Further Agriwebb training can be provided for the successful applicant.
The position may require working extended hours and some weekends, particularly during seasonal peaks like harvest and seeding, in varied conditions.
The Employer:
Our employer's farming portfolio consists of 2 properties, “Messamurray” being the focus for this managerial role. This 2,800 ha property features 700 ha dedicated to cropping, including pasture hay, wheat, barley, canola, and beans. Irrigation for seed crops and hay is supplied by 4 centre pivots.
The livestock operation includes 2,000 breeding merino ewes joined to Border Leicester rams, and 550 Angus self replacing breeding cows, all of which are finished to an industry high standard on farm. Livestock infrastructure includes sheep yards, a Combi Clamp and 2 sets of cattleyards.
Our client has an additional property, “Coomandook”, 4500 ha in size, an easy 2 hour drive away which exists as a separate entity, providing Messamurray with breeding stock. On rare occasions, the Farm Manager may be required to assist at Coomandook.

The school bus stops daily at the property gate, just a 5 minute stroll from the house. Electricity is included as part of the salary package, and the house operates on rainwater. A modern dual-cab utility vehicle will be provided for the Farm Manager, inclusive of a fuel allowance.
Naracoorte is home to 8,000 people, providing countless sporting and recreational activities just a stones throw away. High quality medical and hospital facilities are also available, plus employment opportunities for partners or older children wishing to gain employment.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and proficiently skilled within both the cropping, sheep and cattle sectors and have an overall passion for agriculture and possess the following:
* Must have a strong work ethic and the capability to work independently
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
* A current drivers/MC licence
* A skilled team of working dogs advantageous
* Competent operation of various farm machinery/equipment
