Newcastle Anglican is searching for an Executive Director to lead one of the region's most vital and values-driven portfolios. As Executive Director Family & Community Services, you will be part of a collaborative, mission-led Executive team who are shaping how Newcastle Anglican delivers long-term, meaningful impact in the community.Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee a workforce of 280+ staff and lead programs spanning early childhood, youth services, disability support, mental health, homelessness, domestic violence, foster care and community outreach.
You will provide strategic direction and operational oversight across a large and complex division. More importantly, you will lead a team that is passionate about building better outcomes for people doing it tough. This is a role for a strong, future-focused executive who can represent the organisation with credibility in regulator and government forums, contribute meaningfully to whole-of-organisation strategy, and inspire confidence in the Boardroom, among peers, and on the ground with staff.
Key responsibilities
* Lead one of Newcastle Anglican's most mission-critical portfolios with over 10 core services
* Mentor and guide four direct reports and a broader workforce of 280+
* Strengthen systems and accountability to drive risk maturity and operational consistency
* Champion a culture of psychological safety, collaboration and care
* Represent the Diocese with clarity and confidence in regulatory and funding forums
* Partner with other Executive Directors to shape organisational strategy and impact
* Inspire a culture of continuous improvement in a dynamic and regulated environment
You bring strong operational acumen and the courage to sit at the table with regulators and government, asking the tough questions and fiercely advocating for the people we serve. You know how to build structure and systems without losing sight of the humanity at the heart of it all. You hold your team to a high standard but you're right there with them, supporting, growing and pushing for better. With commercial smarts, a strategic mindset and a deep sense of purpose, you're driven to make a real difference.
You will also bring:
* At least 5 years' experience at executive level in community services or a related human services sector
* Strong capability in leading through change and building team capability during periods of transformation
* Proven ability to engage with regulators, government funders and boards with credibility and presence
* High levels of strategic thinking, planning and execution across diverse programs
* Demonstrated experience navigating complex stakeholder environments with emotional intelligence
* A coachable mindset and values alignment with the mission of Newcastle Anglican
