About the role

As Senior Exhibitions Manager, you will lead the strategic planning, development and delivery of MAGNT's exhibitions across Art, Heritage and Science. This includes temporary and touring exhibitions, permanent displays, and gallery transformations across current and future sites.

This is a chance to shape a forward‐looking exhibitions program, guide a talented team, and elevate MAGNT's presence nationally and internationally.

Key focus areas:

Leadership & Team Growth

Build and mentor a high‐performing Exhibitions team, including Design and Workshop. Lead with people‐centric values, clear direction, and a commitment to collaboration.

Strategic Planning & Implementation

Deliver a relevant, engaging and financially sustainable exhibitions program — including implementing an endorsed four‐year forward exhibitions plan.

End‐to‐End Project Delivery

Oversee varied and complex exhibition projects, gallery fit‐outs, and display infrastructure. Drive timelines, budgets, procurement and contractor management.

Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

Lead negotiations and relationships with national and local partners. Work deeply with curators and internal teams to bring bold ideas to life.

To succeed, you will bring

* Strong, people‐focused leadership across multidisciplinary teams — with a passion for coaching, developing and inspiring others.
* Strategic and creative thinking paired with practical problem‐solving and confident decision‐making.
* The ability to influence and collaborate across the organisation to deliver outstanding exhibitions.
* Solid financial acumen and expertise in project management and procurement.
* Flexibility and resilience — able to adapt to shifting priorities and dynamic environments.
* Proven experience managing complex contracts and professional relationships.
* Knowledge of contemporary display, installation, lighting and audiovisual techniques.
* Demonstrated experience embedding Indigenous Values into a Museum and/or Gallery business and understanding of cultural sensitivity.

* 125,000 p.a. + 12% superannuation + parking
* A rare opportunity to lead a major multi‐venue exhibitions program in one of Australia's most distinctive cultural institutions
* A supportive, values‐driven team where your ideas and leadership are genuinely valued
