About Us
At IronPort Mechanical, we're not a production-line workshop and we don't want to be. We work on vehicles that live hard lives in extreme Pilbara conditions, which means no two days are the same. Heat failures, vibration issues, intermittent faults, accessory-related problems — this is real-world mechanical work that rewards experience, patience and strong diagnostic thinking.
We're a small, close-knit team, working directly with the business owners. We're now looking for a Senior Technician / Mechanic to step into a key role as second in charge helping run the workshop day-to-day while still staying hands-on.
If you take pride in quality work, hate comebacks and enjoy problem-solving — you'll fit right in.
FIFO from Perth only.

The Role
This is a senior, trusted position with real responsibility and autonomy.
You will:
* Run and maintain daily workshop operations alongside the owners
* Act as second in charge, supporting decision-making and workflow
* Lead by example on the tools, setting the standard for quality and accuracy
* Carry out and oversee advanced diagnostics, including electrical and intermittent faults
* Work closely with customers when required — explaining issues clearly and professionally
* Mentor and guide the apprentice and other technician
* Ensure clear documentation, accurate job notes, and strong repair processes
* Take pride in preventing comebacks through correct diagnosis and repair the first time
This role suits someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and independence. You will never be bored.

What We're Looking For
We're not chasing titles — we're chasing quality and experience.
You'll ideally have:

* The ability to ask questions, collaborate, and bounce ideas when needed

If you're the type who enjoys solving the tricky jobs others avoid, this role is for you.
