About the company

Southern Launch offers bespoke space mission services from two complementary spaceports in Australia. Its vertically integrated processes for orbital and suborbital launch, hypersonic flight, re-entries from space, and range services for advanced system testing have been proven by customers and regulators.

About the role

The Business Development Manager drives business growth by developing and executing strategic sales initiatives across the full sales lifecycle — from lead generation and conversion to proposal development, contract negotiation, and ongoing client relationship management. With a strong focus on expanding the company's presence in the international space industry, the role is critical in securing long-term, high-value partnerships that support sustainable growth. Responsibilities include:

* Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets, aligned with company priorities and market trends in the space launch sector.
* Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and deal closure, ensuring pipeline accuracy and CRM upkeep.
* Oversee proposal and bid development, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver compelling, compliant, and client-focused submissions.
* Lead contract negotiations and finalise agreements that support profitability and risk mitigation, securing long-term customer commitments.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, driving retention, upsell opportunities, and acting as a trusted strategic partner.
* Represent the company at industry events and within global networks, enhancing brand visibility and developing strategic partnerships.

About you

* Experience in B2B sales or business development, ideally within aerospace, defence, or high-tech sectors.
* Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes with long lead times and high-value contracts.
* Strong consultative sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a track record of closing deals and driving business growth.
* Ability to translate complex technical offerings into clear client value propositions, particularly in regulated or high-tech industries.
* Proficiency in pipeline and CRM management (e.g., HubSpot), along with proposal and bid development expertise.
* Commercially driven and strategic, with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and a proactive, adaptable mindset.

This position requires you to hold and maintain a valid Australian Defence Security Clearance.
