Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.
As a Technical Product Manager, you'll lead the evolution and responsible sunset of our AWS Landing Zone V1 platform—an essential part of Optus' cloud infrastructure that continues to host critical APIs and applications supporting customer experiences. This role is technical product leadership focusing on platform reliability, security, and migration to strategic hosting environments.
You'll own a slice of our platform and/or project portfolio, turning goals into sequenced backlogs, shipping adoptable defaults and controls-as-code, and proving impact through clear metrics. You'll coach engineers, manage performance cycles, and coordinate AU?IN delivery to make the safe path the easy path.
The day to day
Owning product strategy, discovery, and definition for your platform area.
Leading squads to plan sprints, groom stories, and manage releases and cutovers.
Ensuring platform reliability and security through active incident response and vulnerability management.
Driving migration of workloads to AWS Landing Zone V2 and promoting adoption of the Cloud Control Plane.
Translating standards into usable artefacts like templates, runbooks, and checklists.
Managing engineers: coaching, feedback, development plans, and performance cycles.
Supporting developer experience through documentation, adoption guides, and office hours.
Coordinating cross-region delivery and aligning dependencies across AU?IN squads.
Reporting on platform metrics (MTTR, SLOs, cost optimisation, security coverage).
Aligning vendor outcomes with product goals and maintaining lightweight stakeholder updates.
What you'll bring
Strong technical fluency in cloud platforms, especially AWS, and distributed systems.
Experience in governance of operational and cyber standards, with a focus on assurance mechanisms.
Ability to drive migrations from legacy platforms to strategic cloud environments.
Product management skills including backlog prioritisation, OKRs, and roadmap execution.
People leadership experience with a focus on coaching, performance, and team culture.
Comfort working across time zones and collaborating with engineering, security, and vendor teams.
Familiarity with observability, CI/CD pipelines, and controls-as-code.
A mindset focused on simplification, automation, and continuous improvement.
