Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.The RoleWe are seeking a Senior BIM Technician - Electrical to join our Building Services team based in Melbourne. In this role, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality digital models and documentation, with a current focus on major data centre projects.This role will work collaboratively with our established Digital Delivery Team in Sydney and is the first dedicated BIM role based in Melbourne. We're looking for a senior professional who can operate autonomously, take ownership of digital delivery locally, and remain hands-on with modelling and documentation as we continue to grow our Melbourne capability.Key AccountabilitiesOn a day-to-day basis, the Senior BIM Technician - Electricalwill be responsible for:Producing Revit MEP drawings, modelling and documentation for Building Services projectsCreating BIM models based on design engineer markups and schematic design for construction deliveryCreation of the discipline model, systems, content, and overall digital delivery output.Preparing detailed drawings, layouts, diagrams and documentation based on project requirements.Maintaining discipline models by managing project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views and sheets.Collaborating with project teams to review, interpret, and integrate engineering markups into BIM deliverables.Ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 standards and other relevant information management protocols.Using computational design tools like Dynamo and Grasshopper to automate repetitive tasks and optimise workflows.Performing clash detection and coordination using software like Navisworks or similar.Assisting with interdisciplinary coordination and project delivery within a Common Data Environment eg. Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.Producing 2D & 3D CAD drawings as requiredLiaising with engineering teams to ensure client requirements and project delivery timeframes are metCompleting drawing issue sheets in collaboration with engineersParticipating in project meetings and liaising with stakeholders, including clients and consultantsDeveloping an understanding of HDR quality management systems to maintain high standard of workAssisting with document control and project filingPerforming other duties as required.Preferred Qualifications & ExperienceTertiary qualifications or relevant experience with Revit MEP drafting or related field5+ years' experience working on Building Services projectsExperience in a consulting environment working on mid to large scale health, commercial and data centre projects desirableAdvanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit for modeling, documentation, and parametric family creation.Working knowledge in AutoCAD is an advantageFamiliarity with Rhinoceros (Rhino) and Grasshopper for advanced geometry and computational design.Knowledge of Python scripting for BIM automation, C# and Revit API customisation - desirable.Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu for reviewing and annotating project documents.Competent managing file interoperability between tools (eg. Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD)Basic understanding of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for open data exchange.Experience working in a Common Data Environment (CDE) to manage and share project data.Strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently as part of geographically dispersed team.Required QualificationsTechnical degree or a combination of education and relevant experienceA minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 3 years digital delivery (model management) experienceComprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systemsAdvanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructureAdvanced skillset of 3D Coordination toolsAdvanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication toolsFamiliar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specificationsFamiliar with basic automation and programming applications for efficienciesFamiliar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applicationsFamiliar with content creation and management conceptsSuperior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essentialDemonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical supportWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
