Headquartered in Brisbane, Aurizon plays a critical role in supporting Australia by transporting commodities and essential goods connecting miners, primary producers and industry with international and domestic markets. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a high-performing finance function within a large, complex listed environment and play a key role in delivering high quality financial and sustainability reporting to the market.
This role sits within the Group Finance function and will lead the statutory reporting process, managing and mentoring a team while providing technical accounting guidance across the organisation.
About the Role
Key responsibilities will include:
* Lead the preparation of half-year and annual statutory financial statements for the Group
* Provide technical accounting advice on complex matters including capital management, equity transactions and major projects
* Support preparation of Aurizon's annual Sustainability Report in collaboration with internal stakeholders
* Lead and oversee the Group Accounting team, including group consolidations and month‐end and year‐end close
* Manage relationships with external auditors and support reporting to the Audit, Governance & Risk Management Committee
* Lead, mentor and develop a high calibre finance team
What We're Looking For
Aurizon are seeking a technically strong senior accounting professional and people leader who enjoys operating in a complex listed environment.
You will likely bring:
* Either Director level experience from a Big 4 firm or experience leading the group financial reporting function within a large ASX-listed or complex corporate environment
* Highly effective communicator, able to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into clear, practical insights for senior leaders, while building trusted relationships across finance, audit, legal and sustainability teams
* Deep technical accounting knowledge and strong financial reporting capability
* Proven ability to manage stakeholders at all levels while navigating tight reporting cycles
* An understanding of sustainability reporting or ESG frameworks will be highly regarded
* Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability
