Job Description
Opportunity
We are seeking a Biogas & MEX Technical Officer to support the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Tong Park biogas system.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for monitoring system performance, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and coordinating maintenance and contractor activities to ensure optimal energy generation.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across both operational and technical environments, with a strong focus on safety, problem solving and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct daily monitoring and operational checks of the biogas system, including gas production, pressure levels, generator performance and system functionality
* Record and maintain accurate operational data, responding to alarms and system issues as required
* Manage site safety requirements, including inductions, PPE, safety records and compliance with regulatory standards
* Maintain and support the Biogas Safety Management System, ensuring documentation is current and compliant
* Coordinate contractors and service providers to complete preventative and corrective maintenance
* Prepare monthly performance reports, including system output, maintenance activities and key metrics
* Maintain communication channels to keep site teams informed of system updates, issues and requirements
* Liaise with site operations (including effluent management) to ensure consistent system inputs and performance
* Manage the site’s effluent system, irrigation operations and water reporting, ensuring efficient performance and environmental compliance
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You’re a technically capable and safety-focused operator who enjoys working in a hands-on environment. You take ownership of systems, are comfortable working with data and equipment, and can confidently coordinate across teams and contractors.
You will bring:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within biogas, energy, agriculture or industrial/process environments
* Experience with biogas systems, gas monitoring or similar process systems
* Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and compliance requirements
* Experience monitoring, recording and reporting operational data
* Ability to coordinate contractors and maintenance activities
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
* Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
* Diploma/Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Science or similar
* Training or certification in biogas systems or gas monitoring
* Experience with SCADA or remote monitoring systems (e.g. Web Supervisor)
* Exposure to environmental compliance or agricultural operations
