Help adults with disabilities enjoy meaningful, social, and engaging days through activities that build independence, skills, and with a fun and energetic approach.
About the Role:
As a Disability Support Worker, you'll work in a group-based day program that supports adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in meaningful learning and recreational activities. Whether you're supporting people to enhance their cooking skills, running an art program, supporting social outings, or facilitating social connections between participants this role will encompass all these areas.
You'll be part of a supportive team that implements our values of Respect, Inclusion, Collaboration, Integrity and Excellence in everything we do.
Who We're Looking For:
We're looking for people with experience in supporting people in group activities to build their independence and skills.
- A person with experience in the disability sector or someone who's new to the sector but passionate about helping others
- A tradie, artist, cook, gardener, or someone with a skill to share
- A teacher (or former teacher), youth or social worker, or from a community or health services background.
What matters most is that you:
- Respect and value each person as an individual
- Communicate well and build positive, inclusive relationships
- Are flexible, reliable and enjoy working collaboratively
- Believe in the rights of people with disability to lead full and meaningful lives
- Advocate for rights of people with a disability.
Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Employee Working with Children check
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Driver's licence
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
