Drover Ag Recruitment

Offer description

The Employer Our clients, Impact Ag operating as Wilmot Cattle Co, are a modern livestock business dedicated to productive and profitable cattle enterprises that use sustainable management principles to enhance their landscapes' ecological, social and commercial value. Established in 2008, they have expanded to encompass four properties across the highly productive New England region. Operating innovatively and collaboratively, these properties engage in a mix of breeding, trading, and 100% natural grass-finished enterprises. Committed to producing high-quality, natural grass-fed beef, our clients practice a regenerative farm management style that is free of grain, hormones, and antibiotics with a common goal of improving soil health over time. Wilmot is an exceptional property in the New England Tablelands at Ebor. Spanning 1,854 hectares of highly fertile volcanic basalt soils, it features a series of pristine, spring-fed natural waterways, including five waterfalls. This unique environment provides ideal conditions for raising cattle, with the operation trading around 2000 head per year. Woodburn is a 2,555-hectare beef breeding enterprise located north of Walcha on the New England tablelands. The property was purchased in 2011 with the goal of breeding homegrown, grass-fed beef. It features lightly timbered land with basalt and sandy loam soils. Currently, Woodburn runs 700 Angus breeders, with the option to trade cattle depending on the season. The Role The role of the station hand is to assist the manager and other team members with the daily operations of Wilmot Cattle Company, which will be based at either Wilmot or Woodburn stations. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and executing scheduled livestock movements using horses, working dogs, or side-by-side UTVs. The station hand will work closely with the manager to organise all aspects of livestock management, including arrivals, inductions, weighing, treatments, and departures. Water supplies for livestock must be maintained to high standards, including adequate trough flow, regular cleaning, and monitoring of tank equipment functionality. The station hand is also responsible for keeping all plant and equipment clean and well-maintained. They will maintain a written record of daily operations, including livestock numbers. The station hand is expected to work safely and responsibly, ensuring the safety and welfare of all employees in line with the WCC Workplace Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation. Wilmot Cattle Company is committed to the professional development of all employees. You are encouraged to pursue training and educational opportunities, and based on the budget, you and the manager will create an annual plan. The Offer The successful applicant will receive an attractive remuneration package that reflects their experience and skills. This package includes accommodation, electricity, and allowances for phone, veterinary expenses, dog food, and horse food. A comfortable three-bedroom home is provided, along with a carport, air conditioning, and fireplaces in both locations. The local townships offer primary schooling, and Armidale is located further down the road, providing all major amenities.
