Job Description
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their homes. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.
Could you bring faith-filled conversation and heartfelt connection to someone who loves to share his story?
We're seeking a pastoral care volunteer to visit a kind-hearted widower once a fortnight. A strong Christian with a love for meaningful chats, he enjoys discussing his faith, sharing his photography, and showing the travel books and home movies he's created over the years. Though in good health, he's feeling the weight of distance from family and would truly value companionship.
Your visits could offer a meaningful space for connection, reflection, and sharing the journey of faith and life.
You'll support and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their guidance, you may:
1. Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training, such as Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or HammondCare pastoral care training—Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Your impact
Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be rewarding for both the visitor and the person visited. Regular visits can improve quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation.
