Experienced Community Dietitian required for a publicly funded service in the Northern Territory.
Position Overview
You will join a small team of allied health clinicians and manage an expanding dietetic caseload across four remote Aboriginal communities in the Big Rivers Region. The role involves direct individual and family care, occasional group sessions, stakeholder education, resource updates, and participation in Market Basket Surveys.
Responsibilities
* Deliver paediatric growth support, adult malnutrition/unintentional weight loss, type 2 diabetes management, and general metabolic condition care to predominantly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
* Conduct one‑day, one‑night, or two‑night community visits (not on Fridays) with a maximum of two different communities per week.
* Perform stakeholder education, update clinic resources, and assist the Public Health Nutritionist/Dietitian(s) with Market Basket Surveys in remote stores.
* Manage case notes and coordinate care within the allied health team (OT, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Assistant, Team Leader).
* Occasionally travel by 4WD or light aircraft to remote communities, staying overnight during weekdays; own room will be provided and travel reimbursement up to $1200.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Dietitian with an appropriate qualification.
* Experience working with adults and paediatric populations, ideally in community or remote settings.
* Strong case‑management skills and ability to conduct community education.
* Comfortable driving 4WD/heavy vehicles, using small aircraft, and overnight travel.
* For overseas trained candidates: assessed for APD status before applying.
Remuneration & Benefits
* Locum rates up to $75 per hour (super), dependent on experience.
* Return travel reimbursement up to $1200 and free accommodation for locums.
