Job Description The Role Working with the VP and AVP of Protection Pricing, Australia this role will be responsible for actuarial pricing for protection business written in Australia by Pacific Life Re Australia ("PLRe Aus").
The role will focus on pricing of Retail and Direct-sold business, with a particular focus on an existing, long-term client.
Along with managing the new business and in force pricing processes, this role would also be supporting other projects and initiatives related to the client.
You will work with other teams (Underwriting, Claims, Data Analytics, Marketing, Back-office, and our technology partner UnderwriteMe) and build a relationship directly with the client to ideate and deliver innovative solutions that drive sustainable growth.
Your role will cross both reinsurance and direct insurance pricing, and require a deep understanding of the distribution landscape within the Australian Retail market.
You'll lead a team of analysts and actuaries and help them build their technical actuarial skills.
You'll be supported by a global Pricing function as well as other pricing teams locally that focus on Group Risk and other Retail business.

Pricing Manager ResponsibilitiesManages detailed assessment of opportunities from a pricing and risk perspective, with some considerations on business strategy.Supports marketing and business development in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and promoting the business' brand.Manages projects/quotes with minimal support from more senior Actuarial colleagues in Pricing.Independently derives assumptions for opportunities, including those for new benefits/risks, applying expert judgement where required.Provides robust challenge to assumptions within pricing and from other teams (e.g.
Marketing, Underwriting, R&D) where there is different view and organise discussions to reach consensus.Provide leadership and mentoring within the pricing team, ensuring appropriate development for junior team members.Strong communication skills, ensuring appropriate stakeholder management during the end-to-end quote process including clearly articulated pricing outcomes balancing technical and commercial considerations in papers/presentations, giving confidence to key stakeholders of pricing capability.Has a deep understanding of the markets that the business operates in and the risks to which it is exposed.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential: FIAA or equivalent status.Prior work experience in reinsurance or direct insurance pricing roles.Very strong understanding of actuarial principles and processes.Very strong technical, analytical and communication skills.Good organisational and time management skills.High focus on Innovation.Enthusiastic, with a keen drive and focus.Desirable: Experience working on Australian retail and direct-sold protection portfolios (i.e.
