Offer description

BI Developer

Your new company

Our client is an IT company.

Your new role

There is an existing data warehouse in place which leverages SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and is the core platform for operational reporting. This is maintained by the client's Reporting Services Team. There is a requirement to update the SSIS packages, which will be driven by the Reporting Services Team.

There are 4 core SSIS packages that will require update (2 large, 1 medium and 1 small). However, noting the small volume of packages, there will be complexity in updating the packages to map to the new application.

Role purpose
To lead reporting and business intelligence activities.

The role will act as the primary liaison between Reporting Services and the Project team, leading the planning, coordination, management, and execution of SSIS package updates and broader reporting deliverables. This role ensures alignment between configuration and data migration activities and reporting requirements, facilitates effective communication, and contributes hands-on to reporting solution development where needed.

Key Responsibilities
Planning, Coordination & Liaison

* Support development of the detailed plan for update of SSIS packages.
* Serve as the central point of contact between Reporting Services and Project.
* Facilitate workshops, meetings, and communications to ensure shared understanding of schema changes, reporting impacts, and project timelines.
* Track and manage updates to the Data Model & Dictionary for Merged Dataset (including mapping updates), ensuring Reporting Services are informed of changes and implications, and that changes are effectively managed and implemented.

SSIS Package Oversight

* Maintain and manage a burn-down list of SSIS packages requiring update, including design, development, testing, and deployment status.
* Coordinate with Reporting Services to prioritise package updates based on business needs, mapping updates, and data availability.
* Monitor progress and report on completion status to Project leadership.

Testing & Validation

* *Support Reporting Services in planning and executing unit tests, smoke tests, and UAT for updated SSIS packages and reports.*
* Ensure alignment of test environments and data sets between PROJECT and the Data Warehouse.

Hands-On Support

* Assist with SSIS and SSRS development tasks if and where required, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and implementation of schema changes.
* Provide technical input into report design and data transformation logic.

Collaboration

Work closely with:

* Reporting Services team
* Functional Design Lead
* Data Migration Lead
* Integration Lead
* Architecture Lead
* Technical Lead
* Test Lead
* Project Unify leadership and PMO
* Business stakeholders and end users.
