Cook / Chef
My Australian Career, an established business located in Redcliffe, QLD, is seeking a seasoned Cook/Chef to join their team on a full‐time basis.
Responsibilities
* Chef – Plan, prepare, and cook menu items in line with standards and recipes; develop and update menu offerings in consultation with management; supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient daily kitchen operations; ensure food preparation, cooking, and presentation meet required quality standards; monitor stock, order ingredients, and liaise with suppliers; maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards; oversee kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and operational efficiency; control food costs and minimise waste; inspect dishes prior to service to ensure quality and consistency.
* Cook – Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes, standards, and procedures; assist with basic menu preparation and food production as directed by senior kitchen staff; ensure food is prepared, cooked, and presented to required quality and portion standards; maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas; assist with stock control, including storage and reporting low stock levels; follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety requirements; support efficient kitchen operations during service periods; ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food items to minimise waste.
Qualifications & Experience
* Chef – Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a commercial kitchen; demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and cook menu items consistently; experience in menu planning, kitchen coordination, and supervising staff; strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure; relevant qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) highly regarded.
* Cook – Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen; demonstrated ability to prepare and cook menu items consistently; knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen operations; strong teamwork skills and ability to follow instructions accurately; relevant hospitality or cookery qualifications highly regarded; previous experience in restaurant or café preferred.
