Join the QA team at Challenge Foods, a family-owned business that has been producing food products and supporting the local community for over 50 years.
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Officer who, as part of a team, will play a vital role in the business, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and requirements.
This role is versatile and will cover production quality assurance, laboratory duties and occupational health and safety activities. It also involves maintaining records for audits, quality assurance monitoring, reporting and administration.
You'll be driven to ensure good manufacturing practices and implement initiatives and actions in line with company policy to achieve quality targets across the site. You will ensure that all value-added products conform to food regulations, safety standards and specifications.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Quality Assurance:
* Monitoring production lines and verifying critical control points, control points and quality control points, and escalating any deviations from specification to the management,
* Managing and maintaining product specifications, quality documentation and standard operating procedures,
* Managing approved supplier programs, inventory management, quality systems and training programs
* Assisting with external audits and inspections, conducting internal audits of the Company's quality management system, identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement,
* Consolidating and verifying production monitoring forms, reviewing pre-op inspections and operational inspections and assigning tasks to relevant team members,
* Cooperating with external contractors and suppliers, managing complaints and product investigations,
* Be part of the company's OHS committee, conducting risk assessments, performing equipment inspections, maintaining OHS documentation and licences to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Laboratory Duties:
* Collecting and preparing food samples and conducting microbiological and analytical tests, conducting shelf-life studies and organoleptic assessments of the products
* Executing Environmental Monitoring and Swabbing Programs
* Preparing microbiological media and chemical reagents as needed
* Maintaining and calibrating laboratory and factory measuring equipment
Working hours:
Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm, with overtime when required. Additionally, one Saturday per month (on average) would be required for approximately 4 hours, roster-based rotation. RDOs once per month. In rare circumstances, afternoon shift or night shift work might be required.
An ideal candidate would need to:
* Complete Medical Screening and Police Check,
* Be punctual, reliable and organised,
* Have high attention to detail regarding product integrity, facts and figures and relaying information,
* Have excellent communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
* Be a team player and can cooperate and coordinate tasks on hand with other team members, as well as work independently.
* Have PC and Microsoft Office skills.
Qualifications:
* Experience within the food manufacturing industry, Australian Standard AS4696, and GFSI certification would be an advantage.
* Laboratory and Occupational Health Safety experience would be an advantage; however, full training will be provided.
* Formal qualifications in Food Science would be highly regarded
