Building Surveyor Role
The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is seeking a qualified Senior Building Surveyor to join their team in Kununurra.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assessment and processing of building applications and certificates
* Undertaking inspections of private swimming pool safety barriers for compliance
* Maintaining accurate records, ensuring building information systems are correct and up-to-date
* Liaising with external stakeholders including the Building Commission, Department of Fire Emergency Services, and Western Australian Local Government Association
* Maintaining knowledge of current industry practices and legislation
* Providing technical advice on building related matters
* Investigating non-compliant building matters and resolving them based on risk and due process
* Carrying out building inspections to assess compliance with the Building Code of Australia
* Improving operational processes and checklists
* Assessing land use proposals for compliance with relevant building legislation
Requirements:
* Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying or equivalent qualification
* Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2 Certificate of Registration in Western Australia
* Current unrestricted WA 'C' class Driver's Licence
* Minimum 3 years experience as a building surveyor with sound working knowledge of relevant legislation
* Ability to provide specialist advice and apply knowledge of procedures
* Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
