We're looking for a
Java EE System Administrator
for a long-term contract opportunity in the public sector.
About the role:
You will be required to WebSphere, WebLogic, MuleSoft Application Server Administration and Linux Middleware Administration to provide operational and project support for critical production and non-production systems.
This is a 12-month engagement based in Brisbane, offering a hybrid work model and a competitive day rate. You'll be working in an established team.
What you'll be doing:
* You will be responsible for the installation, upgrading, and control of systems for IT services and products. Services and Products will include J2EE application servers - WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic Application Server.
* Additional support and installation of Linux operating systems, such as Suse Linux, Red Hat.
* You will support the release and deployment of new Java EE applications over the SDLC and through support for the developer, testing and Production environments.
* MuleSoft API Administration.
* Ensure that the systems are managed to agreed levels of service and data integrity.
* Ensure that system performance is monitored and reviewed.
* Provide technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
* Provide appropriate information to specialists, users and managers.
What We're Looking For:
* Current and varied experience across public and private sector is highly desirable.
* Proven experience as a Java EE / Middleware System Administrator, supporting enterprise-grade environments in production and non-production settings.
* Strong hands-on experience with J2EE application servers, particularly:
* IBM WebSphere Application Server
* Oracle WebLogic Server
* Solid Linux system administration skills, including installation, configuration and ongoing support across distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux.
* Experience supporting the release, deployment, and lifecycle management of Java EE applications across development, test, and production environments.
* MuleSoft platform administration experience, including runtime management, deployments, and operational support.
* Demonstrated capability in system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management to ensure availability, stability, and service-level compliance.
* Strong understanding of operational procedures, change management, and incident/problem management in enterprise environments.
* Ability to troubleshoot complex middleware and infrastructure issues, working across application, OS, and integration layers.
* Experience working in structured IT environments (e.g. ITIL-aligned operations or public sector organisations) is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear technical advice to developers, specialists, users, and management.
* A methodical, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on reliability, data integrity, and operational excellence.
