Your chance
In the role of Support Worker, in our Tenancy Sustainability Program, you will be on the frontline of helping individuals and families at risk of homelessness build stability and hope.
Every day, you’ll support participants to maintain their homes, develop life skills, and connect with the services and opportunities they need to thrive.
Working alongside a passionate and caring team, you’ll contribute to tailored case plans and bring a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach to every interaction, turning everyday support into real, lasting change in people’s lives.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide day-to-day, person-centered support to individuals and families, including assistance with tenancy maintenance, life skills development, and engagement with community services.
- Support the delivery of tailored case plans under the guidance of Case Managers, ensuring plans are sensitive, culturally responsive, and aligned with participants’ goals.
- Complete required paperwork, assist with registrations, and ensure all documentation meets Mission Australia standards.
- Contribute to the smooth functioning and continuous improvement of the Tenancy Support Program through participation in team activities, projects, and training initiatives.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and external stakeholders to enhance service outcomes and community engagement.
- Provide outreach services as required and support participants in connecting with wider community programs and resources.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, assisting senior staff as needed, and maintaining a professional, respectful, and positive approach in all interactions.
Requirements for success
- Completion of an appropriate certificate or diploma in a related field or equivalent relevant experience acceptable to Mission Australia.
- Previous experience in a similar support role or relevant industry, demonstrating the ability to assist participants effectively.
- A strong belief in everyone’s capacity to grow and self-right, with a positive and empathetic approach to participant support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and demonstrating integrity, reliability, and accountability in all aspects of work.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with technology, and the ability to complete administrative tasks accurately.
- Respect for and understanding of Central Australian First Nations cultures and the ability to engage respectfully and inclusively.
- Willingness and ability to learn new processes, take initiative under supervision, and respond flexibly to participant and program needs.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
