Registrar (Trauma Services) – 2027 Recruitment Campaign
Position: Registrar (Trauma Services) – Royal Hobart Hospital, South region. Employment: Fixed-term, full-time, 76 hours per fortnight (plus training), commencing 1 February 2027 to 7 February 2028 (contract up to 24 months negotiable).

* Salary: $138,978 to $194,675 pro rata per annum
* Location: Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart
* Duration: 12 months, extendable up to 24 months
Role Overview
The Registrar will provide day‐to‐day clinical management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Trauma Service, attend trauma callouts, provide after‐hours emergency cover, respond to referrals and consults, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Responsibilities
* Manage private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital
* Provide after‐hours emergency cover and attend trauma callouts in the Emergency Department
* Respond to referrals and consultations
* Participate in ward rounds, consults, tertiary surveys and trauma calls
* Engage in protected teaching time, structured teaching, simulation, self‐directed learning, and research activities
Qualifications
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable)
* Completion of or currently undertaking accredited training (CICM 6 months, ACEM 6 months) – required for TS4 trainees
* Pre‐employment checks: conviction checks (crimes of violence, sex related offences, serious drug offences, dishonesty) and disciplinary action in previous employment checks
Training & Professional Development
Accredited training with CICM (medicine time – 6 months) and ACEM (including accreditation for TS4 trainees – 6 months). Trauma service time satisfies RACS requirements for critical care exposure. Five hours of protected teaching per week, structured teaching, simulation, self‐directed learning with logbook, online modules, and a full‐time clinical research coordinator support research and quality improvement activities.
