Facilities Maintenance Officer
Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Officer to join our dynamic team within the Facilities and Open Spaces Program. This position is permanent fulltime with a 9-day fortnight roster.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out both reactive and proactive maintenance tasks for all Council buildings and facilities falling under the jurisdiction of Property Services. We are searching for candidates who possess hands-on problem-solving skills and a practical approach to addressing building maintenance issues. While a background in a trade profession is advantageous, individuals with transferable skills from various facility management, administration, asset management, and building backgrounds are welcome to apply.
About You
You are a reliable and adaptable professional with practical experience supporting maintenance or facilities operations. You enjoy organising work, analysing information, and keeping systems and records accurate and up to date.
You bring:
* Practical experience coordinating maintenance activities, work orders, or contractors
* A sound understanding of asset records, service histories, and planned maintenance programs
* Well-developed computer skills and confidence using asset management systems
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors and facility users
* Excellent time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
You are solution-driven, analytical, and dependable, with a strong customer-focused approach and a commitment to safe, compliant maintenance outcomes.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
* Qualifications in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Asset Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* Practical experience in facilities, maintenance coordination, construction, or asset management environments
* Experience working with contractors or service providers
* Current QLD "C" Class Driver Licence (or ability to transfer)
