Outridge Family Trust & Others Trading as Knights Laundry is a privately owned commercial laundry in Toowoomba servicing accommodation and hospitality industries across south-east Queensland. Knights is a growing business equipped with plant and machinery processing up to 200 tonnes of product a week.
The Role
Knights is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to further improve and maintain equipment on a full-time basis.
This role will be to ensure critical maintenance is carried out over various types of plant and equipment to minimize machine downtime to meet daily production requirements. Ongoing mechanical functionality review to ensure safety, consistency and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, test, fault-find and repair electronic control systems used in commercial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, ironers and folding systems.
* Diagnose and rectify faults in PLCs, sensors, drives, HMIs and associated electronic components to minimise equipment downtime.
* Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on electronic and automated systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
* Calibrate electronic measuring, control and safety devices to ensure accurate operation and compliance with operational requirements.
* Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics to support maintenance and repair activities.
* Monitor equipment performance, identify recurring electronic faults, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
* Maintain service records, fault reports and compliance documentation for electronic maintenance activities.
* Liaise with operations staff and equipment suppliers to coordinate repairs, upgrades and system improvements.
* Ensure all electronic maintenance work complies with WHS, electrical safety and relevant Australian standards.
What You Require
Essential:
* Recognised trade or tertiary qualification in a mechanical or electrical field.
* Experience in a manufacturing or processing environment, ideally within a commercial laundry or similar continuous processing industrial operation.
* Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills with a focus on safety and operational efficiency.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a customer-focused approach.
* Current Class C driver's license.
* Ability to work rotating shifts, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays if required due to operational needs or seasonal highs and lows of trading.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and National Police Check.
Desirable:
* Tickets or licenses in any of the following: Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, Confined Space, Unattended Boiler, or Forklift operation.
(Training may be provided for the right candidate.)
* Certificate III with 2 years on the job training
* Certificate IV
* Three years of relevant full-time experience.
Work Environment
This is a physically active and hands on role involving climbing, bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 10kg).
Work may occasionally take place at heights, in confined spaces, in noisy or hot environments. Uniforms and PPE are provided and required at all times.
