The University of Sydney's Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) is offering a full-time casual position for a Senior Technical Officer in Visual Arts.
This position will require specific skills in screen arts to support the undergraduate screen arts program at SCA.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct technical workshops in Screen Arts core and elective units.? Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures in SCA screen arts studios.? Provide technical instruction and supervise facilities for undergraduate screen arts students.? Assist academic staff in delivering the undergraduate program, including:? Technical instruction.? Setting up, managing, and maintaining film, video, and sound production facilities, including lighting and sound studios with both analogue and digital equipment.? Working with both analogue and digital video and sound equipment, on location and in studio, including recording, capturing, mixing, and output to various platforms.? Assisting in the setup and installation of student works using video, film, and sound processes and equipment.? Coordinating with stakeholders across SCA and University Venues to secure location permissions for student filming.? Essential Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in operating various camera formats (e.g., iPhone, GH5, Sony FX30, Super 8, Bolex).? Expertise in basic lighting and design techniques (e.g., three-point lighting, studio setups, single-source lighting, greenscreen, chiaroscuro).? Professional experience in pre-production, production, and post-production within the film/television industry.? Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability to implement technical and creative solutions within tight timeframes.? Ability to work efficiently with diverse students and staff according to complex timetables.? Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (including editing, After Effects, and graphics/titles) and Ableton Live.? Capability to adapt to students' needs and assist them in finding specific workflows for different media processes.? Effective time management skills to meet various course requirements.
