About the Opportunity
Join the SSN AUKUS Build Program as an Instructional Designer, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping Australia's future submarine workforce. We have 3 roles on offer across three exciting streams:
* Degree Apprenticeships : Integrate academic and workplace learning to equip apprentices with technical and professional skills.
* Traineeships : Develop foundational learning programs for early-career entrants and those new to defence.
* Industry Bridging : Create tailored learning pathways for skilled workers transitioning from adjacent industries.
Each stream contributes to building a capable, confident, and future-ready workforce for a pioneering defence project.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop learning content aligned to stream-specific frameworks and outcomes.
* Collaborate with education/training providers, SMEs, and internal stakeholders to ensure curriculum alignment.
* Develop blended learning assets including eLearning modules, assessments, and job aids.
* Monitor learner engagement and implement feedback-driven improvements.
* Support onboarding, mentoring, and learner support initiatives across all streams.
Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK time zone) is required.
Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.
About You
* Proven experience in instructional design or curriculum development within vocational, tertiary, or technical environments.
* Strong understanding of adult learning principles, competency-based training, and workplace-integrated learning.
* Ability to translate complex concepts into accessible, engaging content.
* Experience with VET, Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), or higher education standards.
* Familiarity with STEM, engineering, safety, compliance, or workforce transition programs.
* Proficiency in digital learning tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, LMS platforms) is desirable.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
