Position Title: Mental Health Clinical Lead

Location: Bunbury

Employment Type: Part Time 0.8 FTE (30 hours a week)

Fixed-term contract based on contract funding through to 30 June 2027

Summary

The Mental Health Clinical Lead provides high level clinical oversight governance and support to the South West Wellbeing Coaches Care Navigators (lived experience workforce) and the Aboriginal Liaison Officer. The Clinical Lead supports safe evidence-based practice across South West Mental Health programs through robust clinical triage, review of referrals, supervision and escalation of clinical risk concerns to the Program Manager. The role promotes coordinated culturally responsive recovery oriented care pathways and contributes to program quality, service improvement and workforce capability development.

Responsibilities

* Provide day to day clinical leadership oversight and guidance to Wellbeing Coaches, Care Navigators and the Aboriginal Liaison Officer.
* Ensure all mental health services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, clinical standards and professional scope of practice.
* Support the implementation of evidence-based interventions, stepped care principles and early intervention frameworks.
* Lead the clinical triage of all incoming referrals to South West Mental Health programs.
* Undertake or support initial risk assessments, formulation and prioritisation of client needs.
* Determine appropriate service allocation, escalation pathways or referral to higher intensity or specialist services when required.
* Review and monitor active cases where clinical concerns or complexity is present, escalating to the Program Manager for action.
* Provide regular clinical supervision, mentoring and reflective practice opportunities for the multidisciplinary wellbeing workforce.
* Build capability in LIPI delivery, risk management, therapeutic skills and culturally responsive practice.
* Support staff in navigating challenging presentations, boundary management and safe practice issues.
* Foster strong team-based collaboration and contribute to integrated place-based mental health responses across the South West region.
* Work collaboratively with the Aboriginal Liaison Officer and broader team to ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed and inclusive service delivery.
* Promote practices that value lived experience, person-centred care and diversity.

Essential Qualifications / Experience

* Experienced and accredited mental health clinician
* Qualified Registered Nurse, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker
* Demonstrated practice across acute and community mental health settings.

Essential Requirements

* Pre-Employment Health Assessment
* A valid WA driver's licence
* A valid and clear police check
* A Working with Children Check (WWC)
