The Coordinator Environmental Health plays a key leadership role in coordinating Council’s Environmental Health services to protect and enhance public health, environmental safety and community wellbeing.
This position is responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day operations of the Environmental Health team, including the allocation of cases and workloads, providing specialist technical advice, and ensuring consistent and compliant service delivery across wastewater management, food safety, public and environmental health, local nuisance and health promotion.
The role administers and enforces a range of legislation including the South Australian Public Health Act 2011, Food Act 2001 (SA), Wastewater Regulations 2013 and associated regulations, while working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to deliver effective regulatory, educational and preventative outcomes for the Adelaide Hills community.

Coordinator Environmental Health (This is a full time, permanent position)
* Coordinate day‑to‑day operations of the Environmental Health team, including case allocation, prioritisation and workload management.
* Provide specialist legislative interpretation, technical advice and enforcement guidance across environmental and public health matters.
* Support the delivery of food safety programs, including risk‑based inspections and food safety audits.
* Coordinate wastewater system assessments and investigations in non‑sewered areas.
* Manage the delivery of Council’s school and immunisation programs.
* Investigate public health, environmental nuisance and local nuisance complaints to protect amenity and community wellbeing.
* Act as Council’s key liaison with external agencies including SA Health, EPA, PIRSA and SA Water.
* Contribute to business planning, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives in consultation with the Team Leader Regulatory Services
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Degree or Post‑Graduate qualification in Environmental Health or Public Health.
* Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring or coordinating staff in an Environmental Health or regulatory environment.
* Strong working knowledge of South Australian environmental and public health legislation.
* Experience conducting investigations, audits and compliance activities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong customer service focus and problem‑solving capability.
* Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external agencies.
* Experience in local government or a regulatory environment (desirable).
* Lead Auditor qualification or experience in food safety auditing and HACCP (desirable).
