THE ROLE


Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will be an integral member of our Asset Management Team, with a primary purpose to manage, lead, and deliver the suite of capital projects at Nyrstar Hobart Smelter.

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with the production and maintenance teams, maintaining high levels of safety and environmental compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide technical expertise to team members across a range of engineering projects
2. Manage and execute engineering projects from initiation to completion
3. Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks
4. Weekly reporting/updates, cost control, and project tracking
5. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with key peers and Project Owners across the site
6. Conduct regular inspections and audits, specifically checking compliance with established standards and procedures
7. Collaborate with consultants, suppliers, and vendors to ensure services are provided within plan and specifications


To be successful in this position, you need to have:

* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
* 3+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the mining/resources industry
* Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills
* Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging environment
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
* Experience with project management tools and systems
* Experience in SAP (highly regarded)
