About the Role:
The National Field Manager is accountable for achieving sales and field execution targets across the national Independents retail channel. You will lead a dedicated field leadership team, translate national plans into state execution, and build strategic relationships across Metcash Operations and key independent accounts to deliver distribution, share of shelf and activation outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the Independents AOP across volume, net sales, GP$ and trade investment efficiency. Identify customer growth and sales opportunities and build tactics that complement national strategies and promotions.
* Build the capability of the state field managers and sales teams to drive high performance.
* Drive promotion planning and cycle activation, including over‐and‐above and state initiatives.
* Partner with Metcash and key independent customers; provide category leadership and market insights.
* Optimise territory planning, call cycles and coverage; uplift SalesAtWork (SAW) CRM utilisation and reporting.
* Track KPIs (forecast accuracy, service, Low Code execution, write‐offs) and communicate results.
* Champion safety culture; complete required safety walks, shares and reporting.
About You
* Experience leading and coaching national field teams; building capability and accountability.
* Extensive FMCG sales leadership experience delivering sales and execution targets.
* Proven stakeholder influence with Metcash and key independent retailers.
* Strength in planning, data‐led decision making and category/trade activation.
* Strong workflow discipline; ability to manage multiple cycles and deadlines.
* Familiarity with CRM and sales dashboards (or similar tools).
* Tertiary qualifications in Business/Commerce/Marketing (desirable).
