System Technician - Tunnel Operations (2x Roles) Locations: Saint Helena - Near Byron Bay NSW (occasionally Tugun, QLD site) Duration: 6-Month Contract | Full-Time, On-site Pay: To be discussed (flat hourly rate, day/night shifts) On-call rotation | Immediate Start - September 14 Be part of a ground-breaking infrastructure program. Join a major NSW government transport initiative where your technical expertise will help maintain and support the mission-critical tunnel systems that keep our roads moving safely—24/7. We're seeking two skilled System Technicians to support the delivery, maintenance, and performance of Operational Management and Control Systems (OMCS). You'll be part of a highly specialised team ensuring tunnel control, safety, and communications infrastructure is operating at peak efficiency. What you'll do: Monitor, triage, and rectify defects in a bespoke PLC-based SCADA system. Manage system hardware and software (servers, storage, networks). Perform preventative maintenance, backups, and updates across systems such as VMware vCenter, Veeam, Solarwinds, Genetec, and Studio 5000. Be part of a rotating on-call roster for system outages and urgent issues. Liaise with vendors and internal teams for incident resolution. Work hands-on across OMCS, TMCS, PMCS, CCTV, PA systems, and more. Minimal travel between Saint Helena and Tugun tunnel assets. What we're looking for: Cert IV (or higher) in Control Systems, Electronics, IT, Computer Science, or similar. Strong hands-on experience with SCADA systems, industrial PLCs, virtualisation platforms, and industrial networking. Knowledge of LANs, OT networks, and critical safety systems. A proactive communicator with solid defect management and escalation experience. Valid Australian driver's licence (P1 or higher).
