Sushi Kiyo Townsville is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. Located in the vibrant city of Townsville, QLD, Australia, our restaurant is known for its authentic Japanese cuisine and high-quality sushi.
As a Chef at Sushi Kiyo Townsville, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi, and other hot dishes. You will work closely with our team of chefs to maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency in our menu offerings.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 months of work experience in a Japanese restaurant or sushi restaurant and hold a Certificate IV in commercial cookery or above. You must have a strong understanding of Japanese cuisine and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi, and other hot dishes
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes and standards
- Follow proper food safety and hygiene procedures
- Manage kitchen inventory and order supplies as needed
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff
- Collaborate with other chefs to develop new menu items and specials
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 months of work experience in a Japanese restaurant or sushi restaurant
- Certificate IV in commercial cookery or above
- Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Must have valid work rights in Australia
