Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to apply for the role of a Transfusion Practitioner Band 6, part time 15 hours per week, to be worked over 2 weekdays. This post is at Ipswich Hospital, however cross‑site working to Colchester Hospital may be required.
You will be a registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC or another appropriate professional body) and will work alongside experienced Transfusion Practitioners, Consultant Haematologists and Laboratory Managers. You will be part of the Blood Transfusion Team, working with colleagues Trust‑wide to maintain patient safety and improve the service to patients receiving blood components and products.
Principal Objective
Provide a link between the Laboratory and the rest of East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust to ensure MHRA compliance for blood transfusion across the site.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Trust to maintain compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements for blood transfusion.
* Implement and monitor standards in relation to blood sampling, collection and administration.
* Report incidents to the MHRA via SHOT and SABRE.
* Serve as a member of the Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT) and the Hospital Transfusion Committee (HTC).
* Work with the Transfusion Laboratory Manager to correct deficiencies in the system.
* Support the hospital transfusion team and pursue professional development opportunities.
