The Mechanical Project Specialist role involves driving early project activities across a diverse portfolio. This includes engaging with key stakeholders, transforming operational and technical challenges into clear scopes and actionable plans, and providing specialist mechanical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with stakeholders to clarify engineering requirements and shape project objectives.
* Transform operational and technical challenges into clear scopes and actionable plans.
* Develop detailed engineering work plans including scope, deliverables, risks, resource estimates, and battery limits.
* Provide specialist mechanical expertise across materials handling systems.
* Manage and review engineering design deliverables to ensure alignment with safety, environmental, quality, and governance standards.
* Lead multidisciplinary collaboration to evaluate design options and guide optimal technical outcomes.
* Drive optioneering with a focus on constructability, maintainability, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
* Support execution teams onsite, ensuring design intent is upheld.
* Conduct mechanical field inspections to validate engineering assumptions.
* Review and challenge contractor and vendor deliverables.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in mining or heavy industry.
* Experience across the full project lifecycle.
* Solid technical understanding of bulk materials handling systems.
* Ability to work autonomously and produce high-quality documentation.
* Familiarity with Australian mechanical engineering standards.
