Lawyer (2–5 PAE) – Commercial and Property | Australia-Wide | Remote + Growth Firm
About ONO Legal
ONO Legal is a national, modern legal practice focused on commercial law, property, real estate industry advisory, rent roll transactions, and increasingly land development, commercial property and dispute resolution. You will work directly with senior lawyers and directors as well as other team members, gain early autonomy and be supported every step of the way.
The Role
You will work across a wide range of commercial, property and transactional matters, including:
Core Legal Work
* Acting on commercial transactions including rent roll M&A, business sales, land and property matters and commercial property transactions.
* Assisting with due diligence on rent rolls, property portfolios and commercial matters.
* Preparing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating shareholders agreements, partnership agreements, JV arrangements, franchise agreements, employment agreements, commercial contracts, terms and conditions, IP matters, privacy documentation and data breach responses.
* Supporting dispute resolution matters including correspondence, negotiation, strategy and briefing counsel.
Transactional and Advisory Support
* Managing matter milestones, key dates and workflow.
* Preparing completion checklists, drafting settlement statements and liaising with lenders, brokers, agents and settlement agents.
* Attending to settlement tasks and post‑settlement wrap‑up.
* Managing client intake, opening matters and preparing quotes and costs agreements.
* Supporting weekly and fortnightly billing processes.
* Meeting with clients virtually or in person, explaining the law in clear language and helping them make informed commercial decisions.
* Conducting legal research, assisting with advice drafting and preparing structured written opinions.
Firm Growth and Innovation
* Helping deliver legal training sessions to real estate agencies and business clients.
* Contributing ideas on process improvement, automation and client experience.
* Assisting with internal and external training content and workshops.
* Being part of a team that actively encourages you to think differently and challenge traditional assumptions.
Travel to Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast or Albury/Wodonga may be required at least once a year, with flexibility depending on your location.
About You
We are looking for a lawyer who is intelligent, commercially minded and hungry to grow. You will ideally have:
* 2–5 years PAE in commercial law, property law or a mixed practice.
* Exposure to, or strong interest in, commercial transactions, property transactions, M&A, property development or advisory work.
* Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail.
* Confidence working autonomously with supervision as needed.
* Outstanding written, verbal and client‑facing communication skills.
* The ability to manage deadlines, juggle competing priorities and stay organised.
* A willingness to embrace new technology and contribute ideas for improvement.
* A positive, proactive attitude and openness to feedback.
* A desire to become a high‑value adviser rather than a purely transactional practitioner.
