South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to improving the care provided to our patients in line with our vision of Working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. This position has operational accountability for the physiotherapy service within the St George Hospital and reports operationally to the General Manager or delegate and has professional accountability to the SESLHD Physiotherapy Advisor.
The Department Head will provide operational direction, lead, guide and manage the physiotherapy service across the St George Hospital and facilitate the implementation of high levels of clinical expertise to provide high-quality care to patients/clients and their carers, consistent with NSW Ministry of Health (MoH) and SESLHD policies, procedures, and standards. The position contributes directly to policy development, considering the strategic context.

Selection Criteria Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award, current registration with AHPRA, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning. Extensive clinical and leadership experience as a practising physiotherapist. Demonstrated ability to provide high-level guidance, leadership, and resource management. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying advanced reasoning and independent professional judgment in complex situations. Experience in initiating, leading, and completing quality improvement initiatives and service evaluations, with evidence-based practice application. Excellent negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy skills, with the ability to collaborate across organizational levels. Current driver's license or willingness to travel as required.
