Job Title: Plumbing and Gas Fitting Team Leader
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our plumbing and gas fitting team at Hamilton Island. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all plumbing and gas systems across our luxury resort.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to supervise a team and ensure safety, quality, and compliance across all tasks. You will oversee repairs, maintenance, and installations of plumbing and gas systems, prioritising urgent issues to ensure guest satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
You will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed to high standards, and maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition. Additionally, you will stay up to date with regulatory compliance, ensuring work meets local, state, and federal plumbing and gas fitting regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise the plumbing and gas fitting team, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance across all tasks.
* Oversee repairs, maintenance, and installations of plumbing and gas systems, prioritising urgent issues to ensure guest satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
* Ensure all work is completed to high standards, and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition.
* Stay up to date with regulatory compliance, ensuring work meets local, state, and federal plumbing and gas fitting regulations.
* Lead safety initiatives, conduct toolbox talks, and mentor junior staff to enhance skills and foster a culture of safety and teamwork.
* Be available for on-call duties and assist with emergency response efforts when required.
Requirements:
* Essential: 5+ years of trade experience, Plumber/Gas Fitter qualifications, QBCC Queensland Type A Gas Fitter license (or ability to obtain), QLD Driver's Licence, and ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
* Strong understanding of plumbing systems, gas installations, and safety protocols.
* Proven leadership and team management skills with excellent communication and organisational abilities.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Reliable, flexible, and punctual with the ability to support operational shifts and on-call duties.
* Desirable: Experience with maintenance management software and in resort/hospitality maintenance environments.
